Innovation, entrepreneurship and the food industry solutions of the future will take centre stage at FoodTech. Thanks to a new concept, startups will have the opportunity to meet decision-makers from the food industry and establish valuable relationships with potential customers, partners and investors. FoodTech takes place at MCH Messecenter Herning from 27-29 October 2026.

A new concept at FoodTech brings together customers, CEOs, owners, manufacturers, suppliers, technical specialists, investors and partners in one place. For startups, the concept represents an opportunity to network with industry professionals, participate in conferences and, not least, pitch solutions to relevant decision-makers and investors.

The concept has been developed in collaboration with, among others, DanBAN (Danish Business Angels), which sees significant potential in the initiative.

"Entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to meet investors on equal terms and receive valuable feedback on both their business and the opportunities within the food technology industry. At our Open Door event, they can engage informally with business angels and gain insight into what investors are looking for. At the same time, other visitors will gain exciting insights into how pitch events work and how collaboration between startups, investors and industry partners can help accelerate the development of new solutions," explains Mia Vad Petersen, Communications Manager at DanBAN, who also elaborates on what motivated the network to become involved in the project:

"FoodTech is an obvious platform for DanBAN because it brings together the innovation and entrepreneurial drive that power the food industry of the future. We work to match promising startups with the right business angels, who contribute not only capital but also experience, industry insight and strong networks. We have a strong food technology expert network consisting of former entrepreneurs and industry experts who are passionate about giving back to the ecosystem from which they themselves emerged."

Among DanBAN's members are business angels Lasse Bolander and Steen Henriksen who, as leaders of the organisation's expert network, find FoodTech's new concept particularly interesting for both startups and business angels.

"FoodTech is a unique bridge-builder between ambitious startups and the food industry's customers, partners and investors. The exhibition gives us the opportunity to meet the entrepreneurs behind the solutions of tomorrow and create relationships that can help develop these businesses further. At the same time, FoodTech is a strong platform for engaging more experienced business professionals in the business angel environment and thereby strengthening the foundation for the next generation of Danish food technology companies," they state.

Another Step in the Development of FoodTech

Within the FoodTech team, expectations for the new startup concept are high, and the collaboration with DanBAN and the other partners is greatly appreciated.

"With the new startup area, we are taking yet another step in the development of FoodTech as the meeting point for the entire food technology industry. We are therefore both proud and grateful for the strong support from our partners, each of whom contributes valuable competencies and networks. We look forward to welcoming entrepreneurs, investors and other new target groups and creating the relationships that may become the starting point for the solutions of the future," says Jacob Rasmussen, Project Manager, FoodTech.

The new startup concept at FoodTech has been created in collaboration with DanBAN (Danish Business Angels), EIFO (The Export and Investment Fund of Denmark), Turbo Plant and Kitchen Aarhus University. See reactions to the initiative below.

Why have you chosen to participate as a partner in the new startup concept at FoodTech, and what can startups expect to gain from participating in the concept?

Lars Horsholt Jensen, Managing Director, Head of SME Startup & Innovation, EIFO
"Denmark has strong potential within food technology, and we therefore see significant opportunities in bringing together startups, investors and industry stakeholders at FoodTech. For EIFO, this is about strengthening access to risk capital for the most promising companies by combining public financing with private investment. At the same time, the concept provides startups with a unique opportunity to receive direct feedback on their business and investment case, meet relevant investors and strengthen their investment readiness. It is precisely this type of initiative that can help innovative companies commercialise and scale their solutions more quickly."

Gyda Bay, Director, Turbo Plant
"For startups, access to feedback, networks and the right partners is crucial in order to develop their business and succeed in the market. That is why we see great potential in a startup area that brings entrepreneurs together with stakeholders from across the food industry. Participants will have the opportunity to establish valuable connections with customers, partners and production environments that can help them continue their growth journey. At the same time, visitors will gain unique insights into some of the latest innovations and solutions within the foods of the future."

Steen Buchhave Villadsen, Business Developer, Kitchen Aarhus University
"We want to demonstrate how research can be transformed into concrete solutions and new businesses with the potential to make a difference. The startup area creates a unique platform where entrepreneurs, researchers and industry can come together around innovation within food, life science and pharma. Here, participants will have the opportunity to experience tomorrow's technologies through pitches, presentations and dialogue, while also creating the foundation for new collaborations, investments and commercialisation. It is in the meeting between knowledge, entrepreneurship and business that innovation becomes real impact."
