This Year's IFC

International Food Contest, which is part of FoodTech, kicked off on Tuesday with an awards ceremony at which the dairy industry's best products were honoured for their high quality, as well as the craftsmanship and innovation behind them. The Nordic region's leading destination for food technology brings the industry together at MCH Messecenter Herning on 27–29 October 2026.

There was professional pride, enthusiasm and great taste experiences on the programme when the combined competition and exhibition IFC International Food Contest opened on Tuesday with an awards ceremony at FoodTech. Here, the Nordic region's finest dairy products were honoured in the International Dairy Contest, bringing a celebratory conclusion to the extensive judging of approximately 1,100 dairy products in total.

As part of the opening, this year's Gourmet Award winners were also celebrated. The award recognises the finest in the dairy industry's gastronomic craftsmanship and focuses on quality, taste and innovation. See all the winners of both the International Dairy Contest and the Gourmet Award below.

Development and new thinking

Ahead of the awards ceremony, Poul Bank Pettersson, CEO of the Danish Dairy Board, welcomed attendees, after which cheese communicator Camilla Bojsen-Møller, who runs the cheese blog Ostesnak, took to the stage.

With her great passion for cheese and in-depth knowledge of the dairy industry, she put into words the professional pride and enthusiasm that characterise the industry, while also highlighting the development and new thinking that over the years have led to a wide range of new dairy products.

“In the time I have worked with cheese, I have certainly seen many new and delicious products emerge. We have seen cheeses created through curiosity and experimentation, and all these new cheeses are, of course, built on the high level of dairy expertise we have here in Denmark and for which we are known,” said Camilla Bojsen-Møller.

An innovative food industry

Georg Sørensen, CEO of MCH A/S, is pleased with the celebratory opening of IFC International Food Contest, which also marked the start of three days of innovation, technology and professional knowledge-sharing.

“It is a pleasure to kick off this year's FoodTech by celebrating the skilled dairies, dairy professionals, employees and their products. It is also an excellent expression of the expertise and renewal that characterise an innovative food industry in constant development. This development is also reflected at FoodTech, where we have 286 exhibitors this year, compared with 267 two years ago. This is growth that we are very pleased with,” states Georg Sørensen.

Expertise, business and community

Over the coming days, FoodTech will provide the setting for meetings between producers, suppliers and professionals from the food industry, who can find inspiration, exchange experiences and gain insight into new technologies and solutions across the industry's many fields. With a broad selection of exhibitors and professional activities, the stage is set for three days focused on innovation, knowledge-sharing and new business opportunities.

“As I often say, some things must be measured, while others can and should be felt. The increase in the number of exhibitors can be measured, while the energy, commitment, interest and curiosity can already be felt in the halls on the first day. It is precisely when people meet that knowledge is shared, relationships are formed and strengthened, and new opportunities for collaboration arise. We look forward to the coming days of expertise, business and community,” says Georg Sørensen.

IFC International Food Contest is held as part of FoodTech, the destination for the food technology of the future, taking place at MCH Messecenter Herning on 27–29 October 2026.
