Technological innovations, current topics and practical knowledge-sharing are on the agenda as FoodTech opens its doors for three days of innovation and professional inspiration. The Nordic region’s leading destination for food technology brings the industry together at MCH Messecenter Herning from 27–29 October 2026.

Both exhibitors and visitors can look forward to numerous valuable professional discussions at FoodTech 2026.

The final preparations are well underway, and expectations are high as FoodTech kicks off three days dedicated to food technology on 27 October. A total of 286 exhibitors are ready to present their latest products, technologies and solutions, while an extensive programme of activities provides the framework for professional knowledge-sharing, inspiration and new perspectives on the opportunities and challenges facing the food industry.

At organiser MCH A/S, preparations are also focused on welcoming the industry.

“We look forward to welcoming exhibitors and visitors and presenting a programme of activities featuring world premieres, new perspectives and exciting focus areas. The programme ranges from startup pitching and Food Life Science to the latest solutions in packaging, labelling, hygienic design, and water and energy optimisation. What all the presentations have in common is their practical approach, providing visitors with concrete knowledge and inspiration that they can apply in their own production and businesses,” says Jacob Rasmussen, Project Manager, MCH A/S.

The food of the future and new technological opportunities

Food Life Science builds on Future Food Lab from 2024 and this year focuses on topics including artificial intelligence, digital twins, cultivated meat and alternative protein sources. Visitors can experience presentations by international speakers such as Helder Cruz, a pioneer in cultivated meat, and Melissa Snover, who has developed technology for 3D printing personalised dietary supplements.

Siemens will also demonstrate the interaction between digital twins and industrial AI, while Solar Foods will showcase how microorganisms can be used to produce protein using, among other things, CO₂ and electricity.

Entrepreneurship, innovation and 3D printing

A dedicated startup area will facilitate connections between entrepreneurs, investors and established companies in the food industry. Visitors will have the opportunity to meet four startups pitching new solutions to business angels and receiving feedback from them. There will also be opportunities to meet potential business partners.

At the same time, a dedicated 3D area will highlight the technology’s potential in industry and host the Danish 3D Printing Championship, where vocational school students from across the country compete for the title.

Packaging, labelling and food safety

Packaging and labelling will have a prominent place at FoodTech. As part of a joint initiative, several companies specialising in packaging and labelling have come together to establish a dedicated packaging area, which will also feature a conference programme focusing on topics including the Machinery Regulation, 2D barcodes, traceability and circular packaging development.

This year, the Danish Plastics Federation’s conference has been extended to two days, with a focus on topics including legislation, PFAS and food contact materials. At the same time, EHEDG (European Hygienic Engineering & Design Group) will focus on hygienic design and food safety through professional presentations and practical challenges.

Water and energy in focus

At the Water & Energy Stage, experts will focus on solutions that can reduce the food industry’s water and energy consumption. The programme includes practical case studies on energy efficiency, flexible energy consumption and alternative water sources, providing businesses with inspiration for their own production processes.

Taste experiences and Nordic championships

With World of Beer, breweries, technology suppliers and industry experts come together for professional knowledge-sharing and a masterclass exploring new flavour combinations by pairing beer and cheese.

At the same time, FoodTech will host IFC (International Food Contest), with approximately 1,100 dairy products entered in this year’s competition and exhibition. Visitors can follow the final judging sessions as the Nordic region’s best dairy products are selected.

FoodTech takes place at MCH Messecenter Herning from 27–29 October 2026.
