Optimised extraction at Lakrids by Bülow
Lakrids by Bülow wanted to upgrade the extraction system serving their dragée drums. The solution needed to handle explosive dust in accordance with ATEX requirements while also improving the working environment for employees. At the same time, the focus was on efficient and economical operation.
New filter system and demand-controlled extraction
The existing extraction system was removed from the technical room, and a new filter system with an integrated explosion relief panel, non-return valve and process fan was installed outside the building. The filter system is housed in an insulated enclosure that protects against pests and ensures that the compressed-air cleaning system can operate during the winter.
Stainless steel ductwork was installed from the filter system to the dragée production area, serving two dragée drums. Each drum is fitted with an automatically controlled damper, ensuring extraction only operates when needed. Point extraction arms have also been installed for use when emptying boxes containing dusty products.
Integration with the existing ventilation
The extraction system is connected to the existing room ventilation system through a new control system, maintaining a balance between extraction and supply air in the production area.
The system is frequency-controlled, allowing the fan capacity to adjust to the actual demand. This reduces unnecessary energy consumption and contributes to more efficient operation.
