An industrial steam system consists of more than the steam generator itself. Water treatment, feedwater systems, pumps, condensate handling and control systems also influence the system's performance and operational reliability.
Water treatment must be adapted to the quality of the incoming water and the steam generator manufacturer's requirements. Depending on the installation, this may include water softening, reverse osmosis or demineralisation. Appropriate treatment can help limit scaling and corrosion and contribute to stable operation.
Other components may include feedwater tanks, condensate return systems, heat recovery equipment, instrumentation, valves and safety systems. Condensate return and heat recovery can reduce water and energy consumption where operating conditions allow.
The required auxiliary equipment varies according to system size, operating pressure, steam demand and existing infrastructure. Components should therefore be sized as part of an integrated system to ensure that capacity, controls and supply systems work together effectively.
Weiss ApS supplies CERTUSS steam solutions with the option to integrate suitable water treatment and auxiliary equipment. When planning a new or modernised steam installation, both the steam generator and its supporting equipment should be considered when evaluating investment costs, operating expenses and maintenance requirements.
