At Hessler Agrar-Energie, switching to a compact LoadMaster slurry pump made the company’s slurry tankers almost 140 kg lighter. The lower unladen weight provides the potential for a higher payload – without compromising pump performance.

Heavy pumps reduced the available payload

Hessler Agrar-Energie GmbH & Co. KG is a family-owned agricultural business in Essen, Germany. The company farms approximately 500 hectares of arable land and transports around 40,000 m³ of slurry each year.

For slurry transport and spreading, the company operates two slurry tankers, each with a tank capacity of 30 m³. The tankers are equipped with a 15-metre SwingUp dribble bar from Vogelsang.

The existing slurry pumps weighed almost 345 kg. This high weight reduced the tankers’ available payload, prompting owner Simon Heßler to look for a lighter solution offering the same pump performance.

Compact aluminium rotary lobe pump

The conventional pumps were replaced with Vogelsang LoadMaster rotary lobe pumps. Thanks to its compact design and aluminium housing, the pump weighs just 171 kg.

Compared with the previous pumps, this represents a weight reduction of more than 50% for the pump itself. The LoadMaster can also be retrofitted to existing slurry tankers, where its low weight frees up capacity for a higher payload.

Slurry tankers almost 140 kg lighter

Following the conversion, the company’s slurry tankers are almost 140 kg lighter while retaining the same pump performance. The lower unladen weight allows more slurry to be transported within the vehicle’s permitted gross weight.

Service-friendly solution for slurry transport

The LoadMaster is designed for mobile slurry pumping. The individual pump components can be replaced separately, simplifying service and maintenance.

The pump design requires no oil changes. Reduced shaft deflection and Vogelsang’s InjectionSystem also help to minimise wear and ensure a long service life.
