Link between water and energy In the food industry
Water & Energy StageEnglish
In food production the need for cooling down and heating up the product is always present and the necessary supply systems always have a water consumption attached to them. Optimizing on the amount of energy we use therefore is often associated with a saving on water and vice versa.
This is why heat pumps are ideal to replace low to medium grade heat distribution in an energy efficient way by utilizing the waste heat generated in production, while also reducing the amount of water used in the systems it replaces.
This technology has very big potential, but also presents some design challenge that we need to take in to account, to make sure we have a balance between our cooling and heating needs.
NIRAS has experience in heat pump system and when/where it makes sense to implement them in your production facilities, and will talk you through the pros and cons.
