It is remarkably easy to spread viruses and bacteria when handling foods. If your personal hygiene is below standard, you can spread bacteria and viruses from your own body and from foods to other foods and/or people. At this year’s FoodTech, we have therefore chosen to apply a consistent theme of hand hygiene, and simultaneously to demonstrate how to dress appropriately before entering a food production area.
At the entrance to the FoodTech trade fair, we have set up a sink where you can wash, dry and disinfect your hands. You can then put on the necessary protective clothing – although you will not have to cover your shoes because we have laid out a sticky surface at the entrances to remove all the dirt from your footwear.
You are now ready to enter the ‘FoodTech Factory’ and will notice that disinfectant stations have been set up in a number of places in the exhibition area, so you can always make sure that your hands are in hygienic condition.
FoodTech has chosen to take this approach because food companies are required to abide by a variety of rules and regulations governing food hygiene and the operation of their business. The rules and regulations are preventative and have been laid down in the interests of food safety.
